New Zealander Miss Jean Batten flies solo from Lympne in Kent to Darwin in Australia, beating Amy Johnson's 1930 record by completing the journey in 14 days 22 hours 30 minutes, flying a de Havilland Moth (G-AARB).

29 May
Highland Airways begins Britain's first regular domestic airmail service using a de Havilland DH84 Dragon (G-ACCE).

8-9 August
Captain L. Reid and J.R. Ayling fly a de Havilland Dragon (G-ACJM) from Canada to Britain. This is the first aeroplane flight between the two countries.

20 October
The England to Australia Air Race begins. The speed section is won by C.W.A. Scott and T. Campbell Black when they complete the course in 71 hours 18 minutes in a twin engine de Havilland DH88 Comet. The handicap section is won by K.D. Paramentier and J.J. Moll in a KLM Douglas DC2.
